We all know that a great teacher can change a person’s life, but can a great teacher change the world? This legacy tribute film about the renowned double bassist and teacher Linda McKnight explores the impact of one teacher’s influence on a generation of students. Everything she taught, in music and in life, had unexpected ripple effects that changed the world forever.
This film explores the intersection of a great music teacher and her unintended and unexpected influence on an entire music scene. Linda’s focus on classical discipline, technique, professionalism, and musicality became intertwined with her students’ interests in rock, reggae, ska, punk, and jazz. The result was a sound that changed the world.
Please consider supporting this important project, which impacts the arts, education, and the very nature of how and why we learn. Linda is an inspiration to the many students she reached in five decades of teaching, and her story deserves to be told. Her former students--primarily Michael Bitz, Vattel Cherry, Mark McCormick, and Victor Rice--are spearheading the project alongside notable filmmaker Drew Stone.
The funds we raise will go toward additional filming with Linda and her students and colleagues, editing the film, and distributing the film across a variety of media platforms. We hope to achieve all of this by the end of this year, and will do so with your dedication and support. Thank you!
