Howdy!! Gabriel Cortez is a Biomedical Sciences major at Texas A&M and plans to graduate in December of 2019 (Whoop!). He has a heart of gold and bleeds maroon! He graces everyone with his presence. He enjoys studying science and wishes to attend graduate school to pursue a Masters in Public Health. On March 11th, Gabe had surgery at College Station Medical Center to remove a tumor on his thyroid gland. A biopsy revealed that he has medullary cancer, a rare form of thyroid cancer. He is a current patient at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he is expected to undergo an additional surgery to remove his thyroid and chemotherapy treatment. Updates will be given as his doctors finish putting together a plan of action.
Gabe's hometown is San Juan, Texas, which is a total of 350 miles from Houston. In addition to paying for college and gas, hospital bills are becoming more significant. Gabe feels like he has put a burden on his family. I know that with your generosity, we can all help fill the gap.
