Operation: Feed the Flock

Wool, grit, heart, and a whole lot of hay.

At Bless Ewe Sheep Sanctuary, every sheep has a story, and so does every human behind the gate.

This nonprofit is owned and run by a disabled veteran, guided by a board of fellow veterans, and supported by a small but mighty crew doing it the old-fashioned way: boots on the ground, sheep underfoot.

Bless Ewe isn’t just a sanctuary for sheep. It’s a place of peace, for animals who’ve known fear, and for veterans carrying the weight of service. Through quiet routines and daily devotion, it offers something rare: a place to breathe again.

This year has been especially hard. Punctuated by devastating loss, it has tested every limit: emotional, physical, financial. And still, the work goes on. Because it must.

Now, it’s hay season, the time when all of our winter hay must be purchased up front. That’s thousands of dollars, all at once, on top of rising vet bills, special diets, and the never-ending costs of keeping 130+ sheep safe, fed, and loved.

We haven’t asked for donations in two years. We’ve been selling fleeces, yarn, and artwork, stretching every dollar, doing all we can. But fleece sales alone can’t carry this weight.
