Hi, my name is Caroline. Typically my dog comes to work with me. Today she did not. She didn’t like that and decided she would just meet me there. She saw the front door open and, well, she’s a dog of opportunity. She did not account for roads and cars… Here we are now.
Her front right leg is degloved. Her cephalic vein is … not there? That tendon should also be connected to something. You can see up into her armpit pretty well. You get the idea. It’s gotta come off. She has other superficial wounds and a little bit of air in her chest that shouldn’t be there. Some neurological things that seem to be getting better. We’re keeping an eye on it (Literally. I made myself a nest in front of her kennel and have just been staring at her for hours).
I’m not really sure how much it’s going to cost, so we’ll start here (Emergency vet was $250, current bill at my clinic is $1,400, and the amputation is $5,000). I guess it’s fine if she drains my bank account since I wouldn’t know how to survive with our her. Seriously. She’s an ESA and my psychiatrist says I kinda need her. I also love her like … more than life itself.
I keep asking her if it was worth it. She says yeah and to not ever leave her alone again.
Also don’t know what I would do without the people who stopped to help and my teammates at the animal clinic I work at staying late off the clock to make sure she was okay (After I ran out of work screaming and crying with no explanation post phone call to steal her from the emergency vet and rush her back for further evaluation).
