Late Thursday night Kayen (13) was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. He had what the family thought was flu like symptoms for over a week and constantly complained of weakness. However, tests Monday morning confirmed Kayen has a rare condition called Aplastic Anemia. AA is a condition where your body stops producing new blood cells at the rate it is supposed to. Kayen’s is currently working at 5%. Kayen’s journey moving forward will consist of being hospitalized, treated, & preparing his immune system for a bone marrow transplant procedure once we find an eligible donor. Upon finding an eligible donor Kayen and the family will have to uproot and relocate from Las Vegas to California to UCLA medical center for at least two months for Kayen’s bone marrow transplant and recovery. That will be at least 3 months that Kayen’s mother will be at his bedside daily and we are asking for donations to help afford medical expenses, as well as the sudden move for the family through Kayen’s treatments and extended hospital stay ahead.
