Help get Joshie a wheelchair

My youngest Joshie was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy when he was three years old. Leukodystrophy is a rare neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system. The most common symptom of a leukodystrophy disease is a gradual decline in an infant or child who previously appeared well. Progressive loss may appear in body tone, movements, gait, speech, ability to eat, vision, hearing, and behavior. There is often a slowdown in mental and physical development. Symptoms vary according to the specific type of leukodystrophy, and may be difficult to recognize in the early stages of the disease.

I have watched the progression of this illness rob my son of things you and I take for granted. He cannot walk, eat/drink, bathe or write unassisted. This condition has diminished his vision and speech. He uses a walker to get around but we have come to the heart-wrenching decision that he will now be wheelchair-bound. When we requested one from our insurance company it was denied. Which brought us to this site upon a suggestion from a good friend. These insurance companies see kids like my son as a number or cost. They don't see him as a beautiful life on Earth. They don't see the severe tremors that stop him from drinking his favorite juice or trying to eat his favorite food, or running around with his older brother in the backyard. He hasn't rode a bike since he was 4. He hasn't walked without help since he was 3. They don't see that he will be eight years old and cannot bathe or use the potty by himself. They don't see what I see...my son's physical being withering away. So we ask for your generosity in helping us attain a wheelchair for Joshie so he can be safe and try to preserve the little dignity he has left. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
