Fighting to Survive: A Student Medical Crisis Far from Home

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Muhammad Azam Ramzan. I’m a 26 year-old student, currently doing my Master’s in Artificial Intelligence in Germany. I’m writing this from my hospital bed, with tears in my eyes and hope in my heart.

A year ago, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Far from home, family, and comfort, I had to undergo emergency brain surgery in Germany in September 2024.I was terrified — not only for my life, but for how I would survive alone.

Sadly, things only got worse.

Due to a surgical complication, my doctors left a leakage in my skull, which caused continuous fluid buildup in my brain. I started waking up with intense pain, pressure in my head, and worsening symptoms. Despite telling the doctors, it wasn’t taken seriously until the condition became critical again.

Just a few days ago (July 2025), I had to undergo a second brain surgery — but the leakage still hasn’t been fixed. Now, the doctors are saying I might need a third operation. I’m exhausted… physically, emotionally, and mentally. And I’m scared.

Throughout this time, I’ve had no income. I lost my student job over a year ago due to my health. I’ve been living on borrowed money, trying to afford food, rent, health insurance, and university fees. I haven’t been able to visit home in 2.5 years. I’ve been trying to stay strong, but I’ve reached a breaking point.

I never thought I’d come to this — asking strangers for help. But right now, it’s all I can do.

I’m raising to cover:
• Medical recovery & post-surgery costs
• Rent and health insurance (which I must pay even when sick)
• Semester fee to avoid losing my student status
• Basic living expenses (groceries, transportation, etc.)

Every donation — no matter how small — brings me one step closer to standing on my own feet again. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this with your friends or groups.

Being sick in a foreign country, alone, with no family, no job, and no financial help… it’s the loneliest feeling in the world. But maybe kindness still exists, and maybe your help can remind me of that.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, donating, or simply caring.

Sincerely,
Azam
