Fighting to keep this place open if you can help please do

Hi my name is Gareth Hughes I’ve owned and run this pop culture shop for 13 years and I need your help if you can afford to assist me. My landlord while patient with me has insisted that i

pay 2.5 times a week what I am paying now to get my shop rent up to date or he will send the bailiffs in I’ve negotiated this but I’m still going to struggle without your help.

I’m at fault 100% but the combination of the largest tax bill in my shops history because of accepting covid grants with bounce back loan repayments have caused me to slip into serious rent arrears despite me doing all I can to clear them. I know if I can clear some of the arrears I can afford to continue trading and see out my last few years of my lease but the arrears are seriously affecting my health, my family and my future and the amount they are wanting per week is going to be very tough unless I can raise some funds to clear at least some of them.

If you are a friend of the shop you will know we are way more than just a shop we are a little community, a safe place, a place where you can talk about non cool things without being judged , make friends, be supported and respected the shops not just here to take money and sell things. We have also raised over 10,000 pounds for local charities since opening and supported local artists and makers selling their products and promoting for them.

The catch 22 is if I just walk away I will still have the debts and no chance of clearing them but if the gofundme is successful I can turn this place around and not get into this trouble again.
