Fighting to get my smile back
I have been fighting a broken smile for 9 years now. It all started when I was in 5th grade, 17 years ago. I was involved in a bicycle accident that claimed my front teeth and also broke my nose. The dentist that my parents took me to put caps on my old broken teeth, as I was too young to get permanent teeth put in. Now let me just put this out there, besides the fact that I have genetically bad teeth; coincidentally my father, sister and me all lost our front teeth around the same age. Anyway, the caps worked until I was around 18-19 when they slightly dropped. When that happened you could see, and I could feel, my old teeth that are still there and they've been dead for so long they're black. So since then every time I smile you see blackness at the top of my front teeth, which makes it look like I don't brush my teeth, but I promise I do, everyday. People are honestly very mean and it makes it hard to deal with sometimes. I'm a very positive person and I smile all the time, it's also a big part of my job. So the other day right after I got to work 1 of the caps broke off of my old tooth and I honestly lost it. I left work and went straight to the dentist but I'm currently waiting for my appointment on March 8th. At this point I feel like I can't even talk to peoole. I know more than likely I'm going to have to start the process of getting dentures at a young age just like my grandparents and sister. (My dad also needs them...) I also know to fix my front teeth alone its going to cost me $3000. I currently have dental insurance that will help me with the basic stuff but as far as dentures and surgery they won't do much. I just want to be able to finally, for the first time in my adult life, be able to smile confidently.
