Hi, my name is Karen, & on November 1st, my life was turned upside down by a major car accident.

My car was completely destroyed, the front end crushed, the bumper torn away, the hood bent in, & the airbags blown. Seeing my car like that was really shocking & honestly

the entire experience was & has continued to be just devastating.

I injured my knee in the accident & now have to use a knee brace & crutches for the next few months. This has not only made daily tasks A LOT harder, it’s added just another layer of stress & frustration to an already overwhelming time.

Not only was I injured, my service dog Bento was in the car with me. He hit the floorboard really hard & injured his neck & chest, which added even more stress to an already traumatizing experience.

To make matters worse, the car I had just purchased turned out to be a scam! I paid $2000 for a car that was only worth $330 & would’ve cost me more than $3,000 Just to make it safe to drive.

The money I paid for it was literally everything I had.

I’ve REALLY been struggling since the accident. I’m mentally & physically exhausted, & not to mention, VERY frustrated.

Losing my only transportation has made everything feel insurmountable.

I’m doing my best, to keep moving forward & I’m trying to stay positive; but it’s been very difficult. I’m very overwhelmed & know that I can’t get back on my feet without a little help.

Because I live in Leander, a small town just north of Austin, there’s no public transportation to get me to & from Austin & Round Rock for my weekly Dr. & therapy appts. A dependable car isn’t just helpful, it’s absolutely crucial!

Without a vehicle, I also can’t get reimbursed for medical mileage. I really depend on the reimbursement check just to make ends meet every month.

I’m trying to raise just enough money to buy a safe, reliable used car & cover the initial costs that come with that. A dependable car is down right essential for me, & it’s the first step toward getting back my independence.

Any donation $1, $5, $20, or even $100 would mean so much right now. I’m a firm believer that every single dollar helps & brings me just a little closer to rebuilding after this very traumatizing setback.
