Fighting the Fight of Addiction. #TODDWINGE
Donation protected
I want to start by saying everyone who knows me knows that I am very private. This is very hard for me to put out there. People know that addiction is more commonly viewed as a disease that can be helped with treatment and trying to find the best treatment for a family member can be tough.
Our dad Todd Winge, decided he wanted to try and beat alcoholism after 30 years of addiction at the beginning of August. He checked himself into Recovery Place for a 14 day detox program, and after two days, his body went into shock, and he had to be transported to Candler Hospital. He was admitted to the ICU unit and there for 25 days detoxing. He lost his memory which is expected during detox, but he is also learning how to speak and walk again. After 25 days in the hospital, he was released. He is now walking, talking and doing much better since being discharged. He currently has no insurance, and I am signing him up for medical insurance so he can continue with his blood pressure medications.
Dad was admitted into a six-month recovery program. We would like him to stay there, not in a state hospital, because we needed a group who cared for him and his continued alcoholism recovery. I am asking for donations to help with the monthly treatment cost, on top of things he will need while he is staying there. If you know my dad, he loves the Georgia Bulldogs, and he has never met a person he wouldn’t talk to. Thanks again for taking the time to read our little short story.
