Fighting the big ‘C’ with Elkie
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Please take a minute to read Jess’s story.
I’m setting up this Go Fund Me page to try and raise funds to help out a very close friend in need.
Jessica is a single Mum to 3 girls and has just received the devastating news that her youngest daughter Elkie has cancer.Elkie is only 6.
Jessica was at a time in her life where she felt it possible to return back to work to help ends meet, now she’s been hit with this massive blow and had her world turned upside down.
After spending just short of 3 weeks in hospital at Newcastle having a brain tumour removed Elkie now faces 6 weeks in Manchester to receive Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy.
This is not only a devastating blow to the family it’s also going to be very expensive & with Christmas just around the corner Jess doesn’t need to extra worry about how she’s going to provide for all her girls and keep the house running for them whilst she’s away.
This is an expensive time of year for everyone but if you feel you could help by donating just a little,I know it’ll be so very much appreciated.
Jessica’s story in her words…
So as a lot of you are aware my online activity and humorous meme posting has been non existent lately and that’s because as a family we have been trying to process.. our world being turned upside down and myself as a mother part of me dying over and over again at being told my littlest koala Elkie has Cancer. The past few weeks have been the most horrendous and the most difficult I cannot compare or begin to describe the pain that’s fighting alongside hope.. I can’t even explain because I guess you can never understand or comprehend unless you are or have been were I am right now .
I was in two minds wether to post at all but as word of mouth goes and the news gets out and the messages come in I found it best that I address this so that I’m not repeating myself daily as it’s hard enough waking up each morning to the realisation of this even being real . Elkie has been diagnosed with A pineoblastoma (cancerous – grade 4), fast growing tumour of the pineal region of the brain. This is the deep central area of the brain where the two halves of the brain meet. While pineoblastomas can affect anyone, they are mostly diagnosed in people under 20 years old. Elkie underwent a long 7 plus hour of brain surgery and a complete resection of the tumour.
Elkie now requires craniospinal radiotherapy followed by radiotherapy targeting the pineal region ( which will take place for 6 weeks in Manchester we are awaiting the dates ) this will be followed by chemotherapy ( st judes protocol)
Elkie is and has been an absolute little warrior a true inspiration these past few weeks coming back with a fight and true sass like I’ve never seen before .she is truly amazing and loved beyond belief The way she has and continues to recover so well makes this all the more unreal and hard to process the journey we are only just beginning . But I have faith in the medical team at RVI the amazing surgeon who did the surgery and our paediatric oncologist who are and will continue to treat elkie and get her well and find a cure for the fucking monster that is cancer ! I also need to mention her two older sisters Nancy and florence who have been absolutely amazing and the best big sisters . We have got this ! Elkie we have got you ❤️❤️❤️
