Hi, my name is Eric Carper and I’ve been an RN for over 20 years now. After surviving COVID while working in long term care I was diagnosed on September 19th 2022 with high grade aggressive B Cell Lymphoma. I immediately had to quit my job and start aggressive IV chemo at JHU Hospital. Sadly twice I came close to losing my life due to blood loss and being so weak. I applied in March for SSI disability after exhausting all my resources. Unfortunately I was denied last week on June 10th and although I’ve already reapplied it could take several months and I’m not in any shape to work at this time. I still am waiting for another PET scan to update my cancer diagnosis and further treatment. I can barely walk at this time and caring for myself is uneasy especially maintaining balance. I cannot use my right arm much due to severe neuropathy and severe pain in my right shoulder. Depression has been difficult to keep level since I live alone, have no family support. I have a few friends who stop in and help. They are both RN’s and have families of their own so it’s not as often as needed. I’ve already had my electric cut off once and my land lord has been gracious but I’m at a brick wall right now. Any and all financial help would be helpful. I want to continue to fight until I’m in remission and back at work helping others. Thank you so much for reading my story. ❤️
