For years now, my life has been a constant balancing act between courage and exhaustion — between fighting for my health and trying to hold onto hope.
I live with a long list of rare and complex diagnoses: Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Small Fiber Neuropathy, Inflammatory Neuropathy, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, osteoarthritis, arthritis, and more. Each one alone is difficult — together, they make everyday life unpredictable and often painful.
Almost five years ago, my heart began to pause without warning, and I needed an emergency pacemaker to survive. That experience changed me. It taught me how fragile life is — but also how strong the human spirit can be.
Now, my conditions have continued to progress, and I’ve reached a point where my local doctors can only take me so far. I’ve been referred to a specialist out of state — someone who has the experience to truly understand my complex case and help me find a better way forward. This appointment represents more than just another medical visit; it’s a chance at relief, stability, and maybe even a little hope for healing.
Traveling out of state, though, comes with a heavy cost — transportation, lodging, and medical expenses I can’t cover alone. I’m asking for help to make this journey possible.
And while I’m there, I want to do one small, soul-healing thing: see Niagara Falls. It’s been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. With everything I’ve been through — the hospital stays, the tests, the pain, the uncertainty — standing before something so powerful and beautiful feels like a reminder of what I’m fighting for: life itself.
Your support would mean the world to me. Every donation, every share, every kind word — it all helps me get one step closer to both the care I need and a long-awaited moment of peace.
Thank you for seeing me, for believing in me, and for helping me continue this journey with courage and heart.
With endless gratitude,
Sara
