Fighting More Than Fire

A couple of weeks ago one of our very own community heroes was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After undergoing surgery, it was found that the tumor was larger than expected, and was located next to a major blood vessel. This unfortunately gave the cancer cells easy access to travel. After the surgery, Michael followed up for pathology reports and blood work. Due to the concern of the tumors size and placement, Michael was then sent to an oncologist for further CT scans and more blood work. The second set of blood work revealed that Michaels tumor markers were still elevated. Upon completing the scans, we received news that Michael had 2 masses located in his abdomen. One mass measures 1.8 cm and the other is just over 2 cm. With the tumor markers elevated, the oncologist has recommended for Michael to receive the standard 3 rounds of chemotherapy lasting 9 weeks. This has been very difficult to hear but we are doing just that...hearing. We are BELIEVING that although this may be a difficult journey it will be a journey of healing! Michael has done his best to stay positive and is continuing to smile. He has stayed his joking self despite the news and difficulties he must overcome! 

At this time Michael is on sick leave from MFD and is unable to work his secondary jobs. In order to help lift the burden of the upcoming medical bills and treatment our family has decided to start a gofund me account. We would like to help raise money so Michael can focus on his health, and his family can focus on giving him the support he needs to help overcome this difficult time.
