If you know Jannelle, then you know you are always greeted with a warm smile and soft hello. You would also know that she is a devoted mother of three who has spent the past 17 years compassionately providing occupational therapy services in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Jannelle never imagined needing the same compassionate care that she's always provided. However, in January 2016, Jannelle was found unresponsive in her home. After several tests, she was diagnosed with Meningioma, a tumor that forms in the meninges and surrounds the brain and spinal cord. On February 4, 2016, she underwent brain surgery. She faced a long road toward recovery, re-learning how to speak, walk, and complete ADLs (everyday tasks). After spending months in the hospital, Jannelle was transferred to an inpatient neuro-recovery rehab facility where she received physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Jannelle made a miraculous recovery and returned to work in April 2016, providing the same compassionate care she once delivered and received. In addition, she made it her mission to serve those with brain injuries. She spearheaded several programs providing services and resources to patients, families, and caregivers.

In December 2020, Jannelle received the news that the Meningioma tumor had returned. Doctors were optimistic and treated the tumor with Gamma Knife radiation surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery caused necrosis and swelling of the brain, affecting Jannelle's speech, communication, balance, and ability to work.

Jannelle faces another long road toward recovery, and her friends and family are here to support her every step of the way. We have created this gofundme page to lessen the financial burden as she continues to receive treatments and heal.
