Help Melissa Fight a Rare Form of Cancer
Melissa is one of the most amazing, resilient people I've ever met, and I'm fortunate enough to call her my mother. She is a loving wife and mother of three children who she loves with her entire heart (famously, her three angels). Melissa is one of the most caring people, making sure to give every person the benefit of the doubt without asking for anything in return. She raised me and my siblings to love and care for others as deeply as she does. Over the years, I've watched her open her heart and home to anybody who needed it. Melissa will put others before herself every time, without fail. Melissa loves to interact with anybody she crosses paths with, leaving a lasting impression on everybody she meets.
Melissa has been diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple Myeloma (MM). MM is a cancer of plasma cells housed in the bone marrow- it's a very rare form of cancer. With less than 100,000 cases in the US, Melissa is very young to have been diagnosed with this cancer. Normally effecting those older than 65, my mom is only 49 years young. She has so much to live for, and now it's time to ask the community for help. Her condition is incredibly expensive to treat, and we are expecting thousands of dollars in medical expenses in the coming years. She's been in and out of the hospital regularly over the last couple months. She's tired, but strong and we will provide endless support to her throughout this journey. We are working hard to collectively support each other as a family, and have received overwhelming support from the family Melissa has created for herself over the years. I love her so much, and I know I'm speaking for so many people when I say she is one of the best people I've ever met.
Thank you for your support. We love you all, you know us well.
