Fighting Leukemia & Hardship Alone

Over the past couple of years, I've struggled to balance working full time with having any life outside of work. I was constantly exhausted and never able to build up stamina. A small wound on my lower right shin became infected, and after antibiotics helped for a while, it came back worse than ever. After almost two years, I was admitted to the hospital and had a wound removed from the top of my foot to the bottom of my knee, down to the shin bone. During this time, doctors discovered I had a severe blood deficiency—my white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets were all half of the low average. I received many transfusions because I was 40% low on blood volume. Since then, I've been told the damage to my bone marrow is so severe that it can't produce new blood, and leukemia is preventing me from healing from infections. I also have an enlarged spleen and many more issues that still need treatment. I have hematology oncology follow-ups and more biopsies ahead as we try to find a way to help me. I haven't been able to work and have had no income for over four months, and the bills have piled up too high to manage.

Any funds will go toward living expenses, medical bills, constant doctor appointments and travel, as well as past due bills. I hope this support will help me not have to worry about losing my home. My vehicle was totaled by an uninsured driver, and I've sold all my tools and anything of value just to survive. I've lost 90 pounds in four months and can rarely keep down food. Every day is a struggle, and it's getting harder to keep fighting.

I've worked my entire life without asking for help or using any benefits. I'm about to turn 46 on May 3rd, and after returning home from surgery and all these diagnoses, I found myself completely alone. The love of my life stopped speaking to me after 11 years, without warning or explanation. I'm really trying to fight for my life, but I'm doing it alone—something I never thought would happen. Any help is one less moment I feel alone in this fight, and I am deeply grateful for any support.
