Fighting Kidney Disease and Suspected Cancer

Hi, my name is Nathan, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage three kidney disease, and my doctors want to test for bladder cancer.

I work full-time (pulling overtime frequently to make ends meet) and have always done my best to take care of myself and stay independent. But even with insurance, the medical costs are overwhelming. Critical tests and possible treatments aren’t fully covered and require taking time off.

Because of everything going on, I may need to take time off work to undergo testing and, if necessary, cancer treatment. As someone in the middle—earning just enough to live but not enough to save or qualify for aid—this is an incredibly tough place to be.
