Fighting for Jo-Anne in Pink

Our dear friend, Jo-Anne Thompson, is fighting a battle that every woman fears - the fight against breast cancer.
Jo-Anne has been a Therapist for over 30 years, counseling and helping others live a better life. Her recent career path, uprooted her from her home in Florida, to care for US Service Members and Combat Veterans. She is compassionate and generous. She is an animal lover, who always tries to help animals in need, as well. Jo-Anne is an avid gardener and nature enthusiast, even nursing sickly plants back to health for her friends and neighbors. In short, she has always cared for all manner of life. Now, it is her, who is in need of care and support.
Jo-Anne is a bit of a health fanatic, her diet mostly consists of salads and organic foods. She was rarely sick and was sure she’d live to be 100. In September all that changed. She was suddenly awoken in severe pain, she later learned was a kidney stone. When they ran her CAT-scan for the stone, they found something else. She followed up with her primary care doctors, they ordered x-rays. At that time, they informed her it “was nothing to worry about”.
In October, it became something to worry about. That followed with two separate, but significant diagnoses.
The first that needed to be addressed, was a rare abnormality in her hip bone that required immediate surgery. This postponed treatment for the second devastating diagnosis. The one no woman wants to hear, breast cancer.
Jo-Anne had a mastectomy in February; however, during the surgery, they discovered the cancer has metastasized to her lymph nodes.
Of course, with her immune system now severely impacted, Jo-Anne is restricted from doing much of what she loves. She is still currently unable to work, go out in the community, her time outdoors with her plants is even limited.
Jo-Anne has been happily married to her husband, Cliff, for 15 years. Cliff was forced to leave the work force due to medical concerns of his own, and was eventually placed on disability. Cliff’s medical issues have always been of great concern for Jo-Anne. Over the summer, they lost her most favorite furr-baby (pictured). The veterinarians made every effort to save him, but he was just too ill and they had to make the painful decision to let him cross over the rainbow bridge. This not only brought a shattering blow to their hearts, it mounted a large vet bill. They live well within their means, but with Jo-Anne being out of work, their income has been drastically impacted. She is still trying to appeal her disability denial.
Unfortunately, not all treatments are covered by insurance. Therefore, she has been unable to begin her care at this time.
We are seeking assistance with Jo-Anne’s medical care and life expenses.
From the bottom of our hearts we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount will help).
We thank you for your support and God bless each and every one of you!!
Sincerely,
Friends of Jo-Anne
