Fighting for the Fink Family

For starters, I am overly grateful for anyone that will take the time to read this and even just pray for this family.

I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my best friend, Merissa, and her husband, Jeffrey Fink, for their 4 year old daughter Willa Jo Fink.

I am aware there have been other fundraisers done for them over the past year. However, what they are facing now is going to take all the help the community has to offer, in addition to the previous fundraisers.

Many people know, and for those that don't, the Fink family has undergone and been living a parent's worst nightmare for the last year.

Willa was flown to Children's on September 22, 2023. During this hospital stay, Willa was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Over the course of a couple months, Willa faced multiple brain surgeries and overcame every obstacle that was thrown her way.

For the most part, Willa has been able to live her life as a normal 4 year old would for the better part of this year. Anyone that knows her knows that she has a personality that shines brighter than a star. She loves her farm animals, showing horses, she does cheer, and she does gymnastics. She is a busy little girl with a heart of gold.

The nightmare from last year began all over again when Willa was taken to the local ER on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Willa had been throwing up for over 24 hours and had started to become lethargic, which resulted in Merissa taking her to the ER. Willa was yet again flown to Children's on Sunday. Unfortunately, her shunt had stopped working and she once again had hydrocephalus, which is an increased amount of fluid on the brain.

Since Sunday, Willa has undergone 2 emergency brain surgeries. Her shunt was pulled, she had 2 emergency drains placed (one on either side of her brain), she has since developed bilateral pneumonia, and she has needed a blood transfusion. In addition to all of the previously mentioned issues, one of the biggest new issues is that it was found that Willa has suffered a stroke and has a big blood clot deep in her brain.

At this time, Willa remains unresponsive, intubated, and on a lot of different medications. There is so much unknown at this time, and this is going to be an extended hospital stay. Right now, all we can do is hold out hope and pray for a miracle.

Merissa and Jeffrey will be staying with her the entire time she's in the hospital, no matter how long that may be.

In addition to the costs they already have with their own family, home and running a farm, now they are faced with extra costs of gas, travel, food and basic necessities for themselves while at the hospital.

All of the proceeds collected from this will go straight to the Fink family.
