Fighting for Polly
Donation protected
We are urgently asking for your help. Polly is in need of all the support she can get. She has two beautiful kids, Ben and Hannah, who need their mom to see their weddings and to meet her grandchildren. Polly has countless friends who love her and can’t imagine a world without her.
This is my beautiful friend Polly Burgess Jackson. On Saturday, February 10th, she went in for what she thought was a routine MRI before starting meds for migraines.
The Unthinkable Challenge: What they found were multiple small brain tumors and one very large one in her right frontal lobe. That was the monster causing the problems, but also the alarm that let her know something was wrong. Tests revealed that Polly is battling lung cancer that has spread to her brain and possibly other organs. While she focuses on her children, health, and treatments; the last thing we want her to worry about is money. She is unable to work anymore and even with insurance, her bills will quickly become overwhelming.
How Your Help Will Be Utilized: Your donations will cover
- Medical Treatment: Specialized diagnostics, procedures, surgeries, and treatments.
- Hospital Expenses: Likely hospitalizations.
- Medications: Vital medications and nutrition support.
- Rehabilitation: Necessary for continued strength and functional recovery.
- Travel and Accommodation: Potential expenses related to specialty care location.
- Living Expenses: she will likely be unable to work for the foreseeable future.
The Impact: Your support is so much more than financial. Every donation, no matter the size, is a tangible signal that you are sending your love, support, and prayers for the healing she needs. It is a lifeline; it is hope.
We have already seen our first miracle. On Friday, February 16th, doctors were able to remove the largest tumor, but now the real battle begins as she prepares for many months of radiation and chemotherapy.
About Our Incredible Friend: We can’t tell you how unfair it is that someone like Polly is facing this diagnosis. She has always been one of the kindest, most upbeat little dynamos anyone has ever met. Now she is being treated in the very same hospitals where she has worked for over two decades.
The biggest irony in all of this is that now, as Polly faces a life-threatening diagnosis, she finds herself worrying about the same things her patients have faced. As a nurse practitioner, Polly has spent her career working in the ICU with critical patients and then in palliative care where she helped patients find the best quality of life when facing exactly the same kinds of situation where she finds herself now. Please do what you can!
