Fighting for Our Mom: My Nanay's Heart Surgery

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I never imagined that one day, I would be the one reaching out and asking for help in order to save my nanay’s (mom) life.

For the past 5 years, I have been working as a nurse here in the UK. Like many Filipinos working abroad, I made the painful sacrifice of being away from my family so I could provide a better life for them back home in the Philippines. Through hard work and long hours, I became the main breadwinner of our family, always doing my best to support them financially and be there for them in every way I could, even from afar.
But despite all our efforts, savings, and sacrifices, we are now facing something far bigger than we can carry alone.

Our beloved mother, Nanay Nelly, is 73 years old and has always been the anchor of our family. She has always taken beautiful care of herself—eating well and doing everything right to ensure she could grow old alongside us. Because she looked after her health so well, this diagnosis came as a devastating shock. It was the last thing any of us ever expected.

What we thought were just minor chest pains turned out to be our worst nightmare. Her recent tests revealed a severe 90% to 95% heart blockage. Her heart is struggling, and doctors say she urgently needs CABG (Bypass Surgery) to survive.

As a nurse, I know exactly what these numbers mean, and it terrifies me. We tried seeking help through public charity channels, but due to heartbreakingly long waiting lists, the earliest slot they can give her is December 2026. Her heart simply cannot wait that long—a 95% blockage is a ticking time bomb.

If we only had any other choice, or if we could afford this on our own, we would never ask for your help. To save her life, we are facing an emergency procedure with limited options, timeline and cost we cannot reach. If we go fully private for immediate care, the surgery alone will cost ₱1.7 Million (approx. £26,000). If we admit her as a private patient at our regional hospital (CLMMRH) to try and lower the cost to ₱1 Million–₱1.5 Million, we are forced to wait until July. Waiting for a free charity slot in December is simply not an option for an emergency. We are desperately need your help.

Even though we are all working hard and pooling everything we have, this financial weight is simply too heavy for a single family to lift. I have spent years caring for others at their bedside, but right now, I am just a daughter pleading for her mother's life. We are racing against time, and we are swallowing our pride to beg for your help.

Please help us give our wonderful mom a second chance at life. Any amount you can spare, no matter how small, is a literal lifeline for her and an answered prayer for our family. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this link and keeping Nanay Nelly in your prayers.

Thank you from the very bottom of our broken but hopeful hearts.
