Fighting For My Sister's Life

Donation protected

Hello Everyone! I want to thank you for visiting our page. My name is Gladys Scott. You may know my sister Jamie and I as: The Scott Sisters. In 2011 we were release from a Mississippi prison after serving 16 1/2 years of life sentences each for a crime we didn't commit. As you know my sister Jamie became gravely Ill behind the prison walls; she developed kidney disease, which caused her kidneys to fail. In order to save her life , Jamie and I had to be free. Upon our release there was a condition… I had to donate my kidney to Jamie. This without a doubt was no issue for me.

Since our release, we continued to endure the challenges of the world. Our faith has been put to the test over, and over again. My sister Jamie is the strongest person that I know. Her faith seems to be tested a little more than others these days. Just recently Jamie had her leg amputated as result of a hit and run accident over a year ago. It's amazing to see her smile in spite of, and pushing forward to her kidney transplant; letting nothing get in her way.

After years of waiting, Jamie has finally been accepted for her Kidney Transplant. Being a condition of our release we were very thankful and very excited for the green light on her transplant. (A kidney transplant: a surgical procedure to place a healthy kidney from a live or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly.)

Jamie’s transplant surgery will take place at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. A kidney donor can be living or deceased, related or unrelated to you. After careful consideration, the Doctors decided that the best choice for Jamie is a Living kidney transplant. This is an alternative to sitting and waiting on a match to become available. Family members like me are often the most likely to be compatible living kidney donors. But it can also be done with not only with living people, but unrelated people; such as friends, co-workers or religious congregation members.

Jamie’s first phase is a 7-day stay, prior to her surgery. Even
though insurance will cover most of her surgery, it doesn't cover her
stay, transportation, and food.

Once Jamie has completed her 7 days of test. She will return to Pensacola, and the return again to Jacksonville for her surgery. Kidney, patients are required to stay a month total after surgery. It is also required that Jamie has 24 hr care for 30days. The first 30 days are crucial. Several Family, friends, and caregivers are joining me to share 30 day care plan at facility for Jamie.

We all are very excited and are preparing for Jamie's speedy
recovery after surgery. We need your prayers for safe travel and for
God to work through us. I personally humbly ask you to consider
supporting my Rock, My Love, My Friend, My Everything, My Sister,
Jamie, financially.

Jamie’s housing :$1395.00 covers a month and 7 days of housing at
$45 per day. Prior to surgery tests have to be done to prepare for
transplant.

Jamie's travel from Pensacola,FL to Jacksonville FL.
Gas food and housing $615.00 for the first 7 day- stay and travel.

Total of $2990.00 is needed to accommodate all caregivers :
such as gas, food and housing for 30 days. $20, $50, $100 or more,
it would really help reach our goal!

Please prayerfully consider how you would be willing to support Jamie during this important time in her life. Whether it be prayer , financially or both, we are grateful. We had a large movement of people who advocated, and activists, who lobbied for us when we needed them. My sister need you once again. Jamie and I are thankful in advance for your prayers and donations . We look forward to letting you know how much this changed Jamie's life once she has recovered and is back home.

Blessings,
Gladys Scott
