We created this page to bring awareness to the support needed for our dear friend Jon Fava and his beautiful family. If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting Jon — Bubba to everyone who loves him — you already know. He has one of those laughs you never forget and a presence that is hard to put into words — the kind of soul that walks into a room and makes everything feel a little brighter, a little warmer, a little more alive. He is a devoted husband and an incredible father. Together, Jon and Lorrie have built a beautiful life with their two young children, Hadley and Jake in Severna Park, MD.
On December 23rd, Jon was diagnosed with EHE — epithelioid hemangioendothelioma — a Stage IV cancer so rare it affects roughly one in a million people. That is not a figure of speech. This is genuinely how rare this disease is. From the moment they received this devastating news, Jon and Lorrie threw themselves into research, connected with the small but dedicated medical community that specializes in EHE, and refused to stop fighting — all while raising Hadley and Jake and somehow keeping daily life moving forward.
Then came Easter Sunday. Jon was admitted to the hospital and recently was transferred to the ICU, where he was sedated and placed on a ventilator while his body fought through critically low blood oxygen levels and a high fever. The last several days have been some of the hardest this family has ever faced.
But this morning — Jon woke up. ✨ After several days sedated, he opened his eyes, and he is now breathing on his own. The breathing tube is coming out. It is a moment worth celebrating — and a reminder of just how strong he is. That said, the road ahead is still long. Each day will take hard work and determination to get healthy, and this family will need all the support we can give them for the weeks and months ahead.
Lorrie has been at Jon's side every single day. Their children, Hadley and Jake, are being cared for by neighbors and their village. And with Jon unable to work and Lorrie's full attention on her husband, the financial pressure on this family is very real.
How Your Donation Will Help
Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting the Fava family through this journey. Here is how the funds will be used:
— Daily living expenses: mortgage, utilities, groceries, and household bills that keep coming no matter what life throws at you
— Support for Hadley and Jake while both Jon and Lorrie are focused on Jon's care
— Out-of-pocket medical costs: co-pays, medications, equipment, and expenses not covered by insurance
— Lost income support: to bridge the gap while Jon recovers and Lorrie remains by his side
No amount is too small. Every single contribution tells Jon and Lorrie that they are not alone in this fight.
Want 100% of your donation to go directly to the family?
GoFundMe takes a small processing fee. If you'd like your full donation to go directly to Lorrie and the kids with no fees, you can send directly via Venmo: @LorrieFava
If Jon's laugh has ever made your day, if Lorrie has ever been there for you, or if you just know in your heart that this family deserves to have their village rally around them — please give what you can. And please, please share this page. Every share puts this family in front of someone new who might be the next person to help.
Let's show the Fava family that their village shows up when it matters most. #FightingForJon #TeamFava #EHEawareness
