Hello. This is awkward but I have no choice..
my husband and I have been married for less then a year. August 2nd will be our one year of marriage. A few months after we got married I petitioned for him for his green card because I loved him and wanted to keep him in my home country. On June 6th 2025 my husband had a court appearance for him asylum case. We assumed because we had the petition for marriage they’d either drop the asylum case or postpone due to the petition. We had paid our attorney 1500 to come to court with us. However, the judge asked the lawyer if he was ready to defend this case. And the lawyer said yes. Jeffry was confused because this was never discussed. The judge then announced he was dismissing Jeffry’s asylum case and that Jeffry would be placed in ICE custody. It was a complete shock and we weren’t allowed to say goodbye. Jeffry was then stuck in a van where he sat for hours. Later he was then told nothing and was driven to Krome in Miami. Jeffry was not allowed to make any phone calls, no food or water for over 30 hours. Nor was he given his medications. Eventually Jeffry was transferred to another facility which turned out to be “for non criminals” Jeffry was finally able to make a phone call and he called me. He cried hysterically over the phone because of the fear, the stress, the anxiety, and the suffering he has just been through. Jeffry was not aware that I had figured out a way to see where he was and I knew he had been moved. It was a very difficult 3 minute conversation. I then contacted our attorney to let him know that I had spoken to Jeffry. Over the weekend I texted the lawyer and got ignored. Even though they told me to text them. It took the lawyer a week to set up a video call with Jeffry. We were told he was submitting an appeal and requested to speak to the case manager of Jeffry’s. However, 12 days in, no appeal has been filed and the case manager has yet to respond to our attorney. Jeffry is now sitting in jail and nothing is being done to help him. It appears Jeffry might be there for a while. That being said, Jeffry will obviously lose his job and now has no income. I am now responsible for our mortgage, both of our car payments; our car insurance, and so on. On top of this I now have to somehow save money for a new lawyer as well as a possible bond. It exceeds my income and I have no other way of sustaining our home and vehicles as well as fighting for and trying to free my husband. My husband and I would both deeply appreciate any help anyone is able to give. Thank you.
