Fighting for Debbie Roberts
As most of you know, this is our mom, Debbie Roberts. It’s difficult to put into words just exactly what this woman means to us, so I will sum it up with one: everything.
She is the wife of her husband, Dave for 47 years, mom to five children, mother in law to our five spouses, Nana to ten grandchildren, and a blessing to many. She doesn’t leave a soul she meets untouched, believes in second, third, and umpteenth chances, loves to sing and dance, bakes the BEST chocolate chip cookies, is authentically herself with a heavy dose of humility, loves loves LOVES Jesus, and doesn’t believe in doing anything less than 110 percent; a beloved mantra from her late navy chief dad. And believe me, she sticks by that in EVERYTHING she does. If you spend even an hour with our family, you’ll hear each of us at one point tell her to “sit down!” Or “RELAX, woman!”.
As the saying goes, to know her is to love her.
Not surprisingly, this cancer diagnosis turned our world upside down. There have been surgeries, ER visits, countless scans, appointments, and so many twists and turns. And now, our beloved, cherished, firecracker of a mom is in the fight of her life.
Even as adults with our own children, our parents are still very much apart of our every day lives, our decisions, and problem solving. They have and continue to drop whatever they’re doing, regardless of the time of day or their own issues they’re dealing with, to come to our aid when we need them. And boy, do we need them. As redundant as it is to say, we weren’t ready for this.
They have done such a good job loving us and have done way more than expected of any parent, we so badly want to return the favor by helping them in any way possible through this. With your help, we’d love to assist them in some financial hardship they’re faced with. In times like these, money seems so frivolous and useless, but if it relieves our parents of any stress, fear, or anxiety, we’d be so incredibly humbled and grateful for your assistance in doing that. We need her completely focused on surviving.
From the bottom our hearts, thank you for reading this, thank you for your prayers, thank you for your support, and thank you for loving our mom. We love you all ❤️.
