Hello friends,
My name is James Gonzalez, and I never thought I’d be here asking for help. I’ve always felt that people wouldn’t care, and honestly, it feels embarrassing to reach out like this. But today, I’m here because I need to advocate for Brandy’s life, with the hope that your kindness might help us give him a second chance.
Brandy is 8 years old, a little gentleman who wouldn’t even hurt a fly. He’s been with us through our hardest times, sitting under the table while we eat, curling up next to us when we cry, and reminding us how it feels to be loved even in the lowest moments. One time, when I was leaving for college, Brandy refused to get out of the car as if he understood how hard it was to say goodbye.
There was a period when our family was going through a crisis so serious that the police and social workers would come to our home. I won’t go into the details, but sometimes we had to leave our home because it wasn’t safe to stay, and we often didn’t know where we would go next. But I will never forget how Brandy stayed by our side, a little fur ball curling up next to us, selflessly offering his warmth when we grieved.
Today, life has struck our family hard. We face financial burdens that often make it hard to keep up with rent. And through it all, Brandy has never left our side.
Now, we’re faced with a heartbreaking choice. Brandy was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and the vet told us there are two options: surgery, or putting him to sleep. The surgery has been estimated to cost $10,000, which is far beyond what we can afford on our own. We’re doing everything we can, but we are overwhelmed, barely holding on, and failing him when he needs us the most. And without help, I fear we may lose him too soon.
It is bothersome to have to ask for help. But I know this is not for me but for him. I’m asking you now for a bit of help to save Brandy and give him a bit more life that he truly deserves. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Brandy’s surgery and treatment. Brandy can’t advocate for himself, and I hope to fight for him the way he has always quietly fought for us.
Thank you for reading Brandy’s story. Thank you for caring. I promise to keep you updated, and I can’t wait to share the day Brandy is healthy again, sitting under the table, waiting to comfort us, as he always has.
With gratitude,
James
