Fighting for Blaze

Hi! our names are Rob and Rylee. We are not doing this because we want to, but because we don't have any other option. This treatment is VERY EXPENSIVE, and we simply cannot afford it all on our own. Our pet insurance has denied us, we signed up when we noticed he was acting strange, but this is considered a pre existing condition. Blaze is our world and we will do whatever it takes to save him and or keep him comfortable. He is an 8 month old bengal who used to love playing hide and seek, go on walks and adventures with us. About 2 weeks ago we noticed his health declining. He was sleeping a lot more and we thought maybe he was just going through a growth spurt. Days went by, then a week and we knew something was up. He was not only extremely lethargic, but he wasn't eating as much, i found him sleeping in his litter box. One day, he started meowing at his carrier, letting me know he needed help. We brought him to our local vet last Friday, we did blood work, and were sent home with antibiotics. Saturday we received a call saying he had some sort of infection and we got a new set of antibiotics. Yesterday ( Wednesday 6/30) we rushed him over to the Emergency Vet because he was not eating all day and his eyes looked strange. Blaze had a fever of 104.6. 105 is dangerous for cats. They kept him overnight on IVs. We spoke to them last night before bed, his fever had gone down to 103.1. Today we got the dreaded call. Our baby is suspected to have wet FIP. We dont know a whole lot about about it right now, except that is is VERY expensive, not 100 % curable, but there is hope!! This is such devastating news, but we will not let this expense stop us from helping our baby. He is being seen by critical specialist, which costs $1000 each visit. I will attach a copy of his bill from the first night. We are looking at doubling that if he has to stay again. We have to pay 80% in order to proceed. This is going to be an extremely long, expensive, and painful journey for blaze and us. Treatment for FIP is not FDA approved, so we basically have to get this medication elsewhere. Vets are not allowed to treat for this, or advise what to do. They can only point us to a facebook group, which we have joined and other parents with experience are a support group for us. We have to purchase a ton of supplies such as syringes, the injections itself, antibiotics, anxiety/ nausea tablets, blood work every 30 days, and critical specialist visits. Please, even if you cannot donate, please share and help our baby live a longer healthier life. We are fighting for him and with him, and we ask that you join us in this fight. If you know blaze, you love him. Thank you all in advance and we will give updates as we receive them.
