Batman Was Supposed to Die on Friday.
My name is Heather and that handsome guy in the photo is Batman. Last week he stopped being able to pee. After two emergency vet visits, a catheter, and X-rays, we were in the waiting room at his regular vet. He still hadn’t peed in 24 hours. I was told he had a large tumor in his bladder blocking his urethra. The only humane thing to do was put him down. Devastated is an understatement. Batman is SUCH A GOOD BOY. Like, you'd have to meet him to believe what a love he is. To be so young, and for it to happen so suddenly seemed SO WRONG. Thursday morning, we got up and out, made a social media post for his community to know what was going on, and invited all the people who love him to a "Living Wake" of sorts. To send him off with all the love.
Friday mornings euthanasia appointment comes. Batman goes in the back with the vet and then... a miracle happened. Sort of...
“Let’s not do this today.”
He gave Batman medication to help him feel better, and we somehow left the clinic alive.
I called everyone who loves him. We celebrated.
But then… it got complicated.
When we returned for a catheter that same afternoon, we were told a different story:
“This medication won’t help him pee.”
“The tumor is too large.”
“He only has 5–7 days max.”
I’m heartbroken. But also clear now.
I want to fight for Batman.
He’s only 7 years old. He’s full of life and love. He’s sweet, gentle, brave, and has been by my side since I adopted him at 2 years old. He wants to live.
The vet said the tumor might be operable but it's tricky.
What the Funds Will Cover:
Exploratory and corrective surgery ($2,500 or up to $5,000 at a higher-tech clinic)
Post-op care + catheters, follow-up visits
Holistic healing support (alkaline raw food, supplements, natural inflammation support)
Dog walking/sitting support (I’m working nonstop and need help with his care as he recovers)
Emergency care buffer (Because he’s on the clock and we need options fast)
Why This Matters
So many people responded when I posted he was being put down. You sent messages of love, told me stories of your own dogs, and gave me strength.
This is the update:
Batman is alive.
The window is small.
But there’s still a chance.
And I will do everything I can for him.
If you’ve ever loved a dog who gave you more than you could repay, I hope you’ll help me fight for mine.
Please donate, share, and send love. We have work to do, and I’m not giving up.
