Hi everyone, as some of you know my younger sister was finally able to get pregnant. All the check ups & sonograms showed she was carrying a healthy baby boy. With everything going well, they decided to have a last hoorah & go on quick 4 day cruise to the Bahamas before she was too far along to do any traveling.

They left port & everything seemed fine. They arrived in Nassau & she wasn't feeling the greatest but tried to go walk around, thinking she would feel better. As the day went on she got worse. They left port & headed to Cocoa Cay.....well they only made it an hour out when Shaylynn told Alex they needed to go see the ship's doctor. He radioed the Captain of the boat to turn back, they had a medical emergency! They got back to Nassau and there was an ambulance waiting to take them to the hospital. When they made it, they determined she was in pre-term labor (@ 27 weeks!!!!). Once they determined it was time to deliver, they noticed there was distress & an emergency c-section had to be performed. So, now my sister sits in a maternity ward without her baby because he is in the NICU (and being that it is not the US) mom can only have limited hours with him. And then, her husband sits in an overpriced hotel room ($600/night) miles away, because its Spring Break & he is not allowed in the maternity ward (more weird rules).

Now on top of all of that, they are telling them EVERYTHING has to be paid in cash, because their insurance is no good there. So, in addition to all the (overseas) hospital bills & return plane tickets (for them), they just got a quote to get Baby Rudy stateside to the University of Florida hospital via AirAmbulance..... its $28,000....again, not covered by their insurance.

We tease all the time that it is not in our DNA to ask for help......but, sometimes you have to swallow your pride & accept it. So, I am asking for anything you can give to help out this young family that is facing one of the most challenging times of their lives.
