Fighting For Baby Cleo

On Sunday, March 19th, Cleo was taken to the ER after a day of not eating and then suddenly turning white and cold to the touch. Her initial temp was 94 degrees and that’s when the ER team made it known that something was very seriously wrong. She was intubated, given fluids, and airlifted to a children’s hospital in Birmingham, AL where she was admitted into the PICU.

After running extensive blood work, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, X-rays, and physical exams for a few days, they have found that the left ventricle of her heart is weak and they believe that her heart is the cause of her going into shock so badly. Cleo was moved her to the cardiac ICU and her doctors sent off metabolic & genetic testing to aid in finding out the cause. Her liver and kidney functions have been weakened because of how sick she is. While we wait for those results she will remain sedated & intubated to allow her body to rest and recover. They are currently conducting a CT scan of her heart to help them with the diagnosis, and a CT scan of her brain to make sure there was no damage or any other issues.

Surgery may be needed following the results of the CT scan or even the metabolic test results, the worst case being a heart transplant as soon as possible.

There so many avenues following the results of all the scans being conducted this week. Sidney & Tom have no idea how long they may be displaced from their home. No parents should ever have to endure the helplessness of seeing their child suffering and not be able to comfort her. This is the last thing they ever expected to have to go through. We are praying that their baby girl stays strong and fights and that we will have real answers soon that can finally help her. She’s a warrior baby and her amazing mother & father are staying strong for her.

Sidney and Tom are several states away from their home for an unknown amount of time and they are currently staying in the hospital in Cleo’s room. The last thing we want them to have to worry about right now is any additional financial burdens during this time.
