Fighting cancer with Inger
Donation protected
- Hello, I along with other nurses, co-workers and friends will be fighting cancer with a special lady, Inger Yancey. She is a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and nurse. She has been diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer recently. This started last April when Inger had so much pain that she was taken from work to the hospital. She had surgery but not a lot was found. She never really felt better and continued to have pain. She tried to work for several weeks but the pain became severe again and she underwent a second surgery in a short period. This time a large mass was found. She waited and waited for the results. The results finally returned. She was told it was cancer, they thought they had removed all of it and she would follow up with scans. After several months, Inger tried to return to work. She still was in pain and did not feel well. She was a real trooper. She went for her first scan and it was not what any of us would want to hear. She was told the cancer was there and there was not a lot that could be done. She went for a second opinion. She was told that they could try chemotherapy but that were not a lot of studies done on this type of cancer. She was told the chemo would make her sick and lose her hair. Inger is willing to try anything. She has a lot of living yet to do and still has things on her bucket list. She wants to do something special with each of her five children. She wants to ride in a hot air balloon, go to the beach and listen to the waves. She wants to travel.
- Inger will be traveling back and forth to UVA and John Hopkins. She has used all of her time at work. She could use a little help with expenses. If you feel it in your heart to donate to this sweet lady it would be much appreciated.
- Inger has been married for 28 years. She has five children and seven grandchildren. Both her parents are living and a sister. Inger has been a nurse for twenty-eight years and as you may know, nurses do not make the best patients.
