Fighting Cancer Together: Support Rebecca & Katelyn
We’re reaching out on behalf of one of our Titan Gym family members, Rebecca, whose 15-year-old daughter Katelyn is bravely fighting cancer.
Just a few months ago, Katelyn was a vibrant, social teenager enjoying her final year of school. She was full of life, looking forward to prom, dreaming about college, and planning future holidays abroad. Then everything changed.
Katelyn’s Journey
In June 2024, Katelyn began experiencing back pain. Over the following months, after numerous GP appointments, A&E visits, and calls to 111, her symptoms were initially dismissed as muscle spasms or growing pains. But by December 2024, things began to worsen. She developed a persistent cough and was rapidly losing weight. Walking, standing, and even breathing became difficult.
On March 14th, 2025, Katelyn visited her GP again, and they suspected pneumonia. After antibiotics showed no improvement, she returned on March 18th. A concerned GP requested an emergency X-ray, which led to a shocking discovery. Though initially suspected to be empyema (fluid on the lungs), Katelyn was admitted to hospital, where further investigations began.
After being transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital, Katelyn spent 30 days undergoing scans, surgery, and observation. A chest drain removed nearly two liters of bloody fluid, but her condition showed little improvement. An MRI and biopsy followed — and on March 26th, 2025, we received the devastating news: Katelyn had Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, found in two areas of her ribs. The cancer had collapsed her right lung and was traveling dangerously close to her spine, even spreading into a vertebra. Doctors said if left untreated, it could have caused paralysis.
Katelyn began chemotherapy on April 3rd, after surgery to insert a central line. She now faces 14 intensive chemotherapy cycles, followed by major surgery to remove the affected bone and then radiotherapy.
This journey has been unimaginably tough — emotionally, physically, and financially. Katelyn can no longer attend school and spends most of her time in the hospital. The once energetic teen who loved spending time with friends is now fighting the battle of her life — and doing it with unwavering strength and grace.
Despite everything, Katelyn remains hopeful. Her biggest wish? To beat this, go to prom, attend college, and one day travel the world. She dreams of simply feeling healthy again and living her life to the fullest.
As a community, we want to rally around Rebecca and Katelyn. Donations will help ease the financial strain of treatment, travel, and care, and could even make her dream holiday a reality once she recovers.
Please consider donating. No amount is too small — every bit helps to show Katelyn that she’s not alone in this fight. Let’s give her reasons to keep smiling, hoping, and believing in brighter days ahead.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
