Hi, I am Susan, a 52-year-old Dutch woman, living in Sri lanka for almost 7 years now.
In May this year, I discovered a lump in my right breast. What followed has been the most challenging time of my life.
On June 3rd, I had a lumpectomy to remove the Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 1, Grade 3, ER+/HER2- tumour and my axillary lymphenodes. While recovering, a CT scan revealed something completely unexpected - a 22cm cyst on my ovary. On June 26th, I was rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors had to remove the cyst and perform a full hysterectomy. Inside the cyst, on my left ovary, there was a Mucinous Carcinoma, Stage 1, Grade 3.
Since then, my life has been filled with hospital visits, scans, tests and doctor appointments. Every step has been an emotional and physical rollercoaster but I'm staying strong, trying to live day-by-day and going through it all step-by-step.
On October 15th, I started my chemotherapy journey - the next big step in my fight against both breast and ovarian cancer. The treatments (Doxorubicin, aka Red Devil and Cyclophosphamide), medications and recovery process are expensive and most of my finances have already gone toward medical bills.
I'm reaching out with humility to ask for your support. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ease my financial burden and allows me to focus on healing and staying strong through my treatments.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can give - even sharing this page means more than words can say.
