Fighting Cancer Before it Hits
Donation protected
In February this year we found out that our Mum, Lisa has the BRCA 2 gene. Due to Lisa’s family history this is particularly confronting as she lost her Mum to breast cancer when she was 16 so knows how scary this journey can look. The recommended treatment for the BRCA 2 gene is a prophylactic mastectomy as well as removal of the ovaries. Due to the difficulty of detecting cancer in the ovaries her surgeons would like to move ahead with the procedures as soon as possible. They are aiming for dates much sooner than we could have possibly anticipated after only finding out that these procedures would be needed a month ago. There’s a massive out of pocket cost associated with these surgeries above their private health cover that has to be paid upfront. We have watched our parents give to others continuously throughout our lives, which is a value that they have instilled in us. We would love to help alleviate some of their stress by helping with the costs that are inevitable over the next few months. Through you helping them with this they’ll be able to continue to support those around them and make a difference in their communities.
