Fighting "Black" Against Academic Censorship & Retaliation ♀

I’m Dr. Nuchelle Chance, an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Fort Hays State University, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart but unwavering resolve. For over five years, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching, researching racial equity, and mentoring students—work I love deeply. But recently, my life and career have been upended by a targeted attack that threatens my safety, livelihood, and First Amendment rights. I need your help to raise $50,000 to cover legal fees and offset living expenses while I’m without a paycheck, fighting to protect my future.

It began with a private social media post, taken out of context and shared widely, sparking a doxxing campaign that exposed my personal information to harassment and threats. As a Black woman educator, I’ve faced racial slurs, death threats, and relentless pressure—yet I’ve continued to advocate for justice, even as the university placed me on administrative leave and proposed my dismissal. This isn’t just about me—it’s about every educator who dares to speak out.

With a lawyer’s support, I’m can build a strong First Amendment case to challenge this retaliation and secure my rights. But legal battles are costly, and without income, I’m struggling to cover rent, bills, and basic needs.
