Cancer, The Struggle is Real.

No matter how old or young in this world everyone has been touched by the word cancer in some form.  I have walked through this battle more than once. First with my father who died of lung cancer on May 2, 2010 The Great Nashville Flood. Then nine months later on February 26th. 2011 I said goodbye to my baby sister Barbie who had a short, but aggressive battle with cancer at age 40.  Now, cancer has walked through my front door.  The first of February of this year my husband Thomas James Lentz was diagnosed with Multiply Myeloma.  And if that wasn't bad enough news, He was also diagnosed with Diabetes. We find ourselves in the midst of two health battles.

My name is Bonnie Kae Lentz. Thomas is my husband. We've been married for 34 years this December. we have two wonderful amazing adult children and recently became first time grandparents. I am reaching out for help. Thomas is receiving chemotherapy two days a week for the next several months. Then a bone marrow transplant at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. We anticipate Thomas will be off work for a length of time during this procedure. (without pay) Although Thomas has insurance. The medical expenses are becoming overwhelming. Thomas recently retired from the Town of Normal. He works part time at the ARC in Normal. We have been on a fixed income for the last two years. I have recently started a part time job as well. We are expecting by the end of this that our out of pocket expenses will be  $15,000 dollars.

This will help cover medicine.  An emergency room visit. Two day stay in the hospital. Travel and lodging expense to Chicago along with unexpected bills that are streaming in weekly)

Thomas and I founded the Jesus House in Bloomington, IL. Where we reached out and helped many people who were in desperate need, and now we find ourselves in need. My Thomas is the most compassionate man with a big heart who would and has given the shirt off his back to someone in need.

This is very new and humbling for us, for me... I really do not even know how to do this. It has taken me weeks pondering if I should or shouldn't ask for help. But tonight, I was restless and just couldn't sleep. The chemotherapy is taken its toll on Thomas's body.  We have had to limit ourselves in ministry to focus on Thomas's treatments and recovery. I am involved with volunteer work throughout the community which does not pay the bills, but I absolutely love and have done for over 20 years. For this season, I will have to cut back as I am looking for second part time job...  So many of you have been very kind reaching out to us through prayer and encouragement. We are so blessed to have so many of you praying for us. We embrace every prayer by faith.

The sum of if all is... we need finical help. Checking the mail use to be a small task has now turned into a walk of anxiety for us. Without your help I don't think we can make it through this without finically going under. The need is urgent as I see my husband's body becoming weaker with each treatment. Would you prayerfully consider giving to help us keep our heads above water as we go through this battle with cancer.

Thank you for considering us. With your help Thomas will be able to focus on his recovery and healing., so he can get well and get back to his hearts desire. For I know my husband and his heart is to help others who are in need both physically and spiritually.

May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
