Hello!
We are launching this event to raise urgent funds for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) cancer awareness and to directly support Katie Norman, who is fighting a monumental battle against this disease.
She has a vision for this 2nd annual Motorcycle Rally to raise funds to help her journey along with others and bring GIST cancer awareness to our community.
Katie’s Brave Journey:
Katie was diagnosed 5 ½ years ago with this rare, terminal, stage four cancer. Since that day, she has endured an intense path filled with endless physical and emotional ups and downs. Katie fought tirelessly, exhausting every standard and specialized cancer treatment option available within Canada. Two years ago, she reached a devastating crossroads when medical professionals advised her that no further options remained, recommending hospice care and instructing her to get her affairs in order.
Refusing to give up her fight, Katie sought alternative options across the border. Her resilience led her to the United States, where she qualified for advanced clinical trials and specialized surgical options. Today, Katie continues her relentless fight, traveling to the U.S. every single month to undergo ongoing treatments and multiple complex surgeries.
A Message of Gratitude from Katie and Her Family;
Please know that Katie and her family/loved ones are deeply grateful for any donations, big or small, to help this cause. This mission is incredibly near and dear to their hearts. Bringing vital awareness to this rare cancer and advocating for other patients walking this same difficult path means the world to Katie, and your support directly fuels that advocacy.
Pre-Event Kickoff: Shannon’s Head Shave Challenge;
To help kickstart our fundraising and completely cover the operational and permitted costs of the motorcycle rally, our dedicated supporter Shannon Styra has stepped up with an incredible sacrifice. Leading up to the main event, Shannon is putting a price on her hair and is willing to shave her head completely bald once we hit our initial fundraising target. To maximize community involvement, we have set a date for August 4th, 2026, and will showcase the head shaving event via a Facebook Live stream held directly on Shannon Styra’s Facebook page. This will allow sponsors, donors, and the public to watch the transformation live and share the moment online. Every dollar raised through this head shave challenge ensures that 100% of the proceeds from the subsequent motorcycle rally go directly towards Katie's medical fund to help offset her massive monthly travel and treatment expenses along with another GIST patient in need and ultimately help bring awareness on this rare cancer.
Event Details;
The date for the #FightForKatie #GISTCancerAwarness charity motorcycle rally is set for September 13th, 2026
at the Coaldale Kin Picnic Shelter.
Please use this GoFundMe donation link to donate directly to help the motorcycle rally and Katie’s Journey a success!!
