Joseph DuRousseau, also known as "Lil Bit", was born August 15th 1956 in Louisiana to the late and beloved Forrest and Ruby DuRousseau. He is a sibling of seven with 2 older brothers and 4 sisters. He is still mourning the loss of one of his older sisters, Brenda, who passed recently in 2011.
Born and raised with his parents’ sense of hard work and decency, Joe became a man of many virtues; learning from life and heeding its message. He works hard and does what most cannot bring themselves to do, become a better person.
There is never an excuse with him; he believes in everyone, that everyone has the strength and knowledge to be all they can be and more. From his own experiences overcoming life’s challenges he exhibits a steadfast and grounded aura which he uses to show others that they too can be strong and overcome their trials and tribulations.
A meticulous and self-employed handyman, Joe takes care of himself and his responsibilities without complaint. He completes his jobs with perfectionism living by the tried, but still true adage of doing a job right-and the doing it right the first time. He treats people with respect, the way he wants to be treated and is a humble and considerate human being.
Joe enjoys his family most, being with them whenever possible. His sarcastic wit is refreshing and jolly and he is joy to keep company. He is selfless and gives, but never wants anything in return. He is more than a brother, god father, and an uncle. He is a resilient, but gentle gift to this world.
After offering so much to his family and friends and for being a stand up and useful individual, Joe was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer.
Having always worked for himself, using resources only when necessary, he is now unable to work due to the conditions of this illness. He needs our help to battle this monster and ensure that he continues to be a beacon on this planet if for nothing more than for the people who love him so dearly. He is doing his best, but the hospital bills are rising up faster and higher with tests and ongoing treatments.
Here is a list of what we have in bills and needs as well as unforeseen and anticipated costs:

-PET Scan is $9,000
-One Day in the hospital is $1500 and he needs at 3 days
-X-rays
-Blood Tests
-Doctor Fees
-Biopsy
-CAT Scan
-Ongoing cancer treatments
