On January 25, a law enforcement officer of OPD rescued a puppy being attacked by larger dogs in a bad part of town. My husband, Jesse, and I decided to foster her so that she wouldn't be put into a kill shelter that day.
She is is the sweetest, most gentle cuddle bug I have ever met, and it has been impossible not to fall in love with her. My husband and I tried not to name her, but with her little pink speckled nose and innocent eyes, the name "Daisy" just fit. Our dogs even accepted her into the pack and have loved playing with her.
2 days after we took Daisy in, she started vomiting and would not eat or poop. She has had a decline in the past few days, and this morning, the vet confirmed that she has Parvo.
This is not a death sentence for her because she is 6 months old, but she needs aggressive IV fluid therapy, nutrition replacement, animal hospital stays, and white blood cell count checks. I wish that this was something we were prepared to take on financially (and emotionally,) but we are not. We had found a forever home under the condition that Daisy was healthy. Now it is up to us to save her.
The above treatments could run up to $2,000 depending on how she progresses, but the Vet says there is no way to quote how much it will be. It will be Daisy needs URGENT medical care for at least 8 days, and we are not equiped to pay for about $250 every day. We have called numerous shelters that will not take her either from being at capacity or because of her condition. This gofundme page is her last chance at life.
If Daisy is able to recover to her playful self and can be eligible to be deservingly adopted by a loving family, we will be eternally grateful. I cannot describe how much this little foster baby already means to us.
