Holly's 2nd Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
My mom, Holly, was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer in November of 2009; a shocking moment to many of us because my Grandfather, her father, had passed away from colon cancer.  Holly underwent a major surgery that removed a foot of bowel, and then she went through chemotherapy for 6 months, which ended in July of 2010. The bills that insurance didn't cover from this first battle with cancer totaled over $35,000.  It pretty much drained my parents' savings and they lived pretty frugal in those years to make a dent in those bills.

Then our worst fears returned, in July of 2015, over five years after her previous surgery, she went to her surgeon because she was having pain. A CT scan showed another tumor, and a biopsy revealed that this was indeed a recurrence of the last tumor. Mom underwent surgery to replace her infusion port as chemotherapy was again needed, as well as going through daily radiation for 30 days.

In December, a PET scan checked for any metastasis and another major surgery was scheduled to remove the tumor and more bowel.   The surgery was completed at Huntsman's Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, by a very excellent surgeon.  AND, now the bills are rolling in for the second time.

I'd love for more than anything for my parents to not have to drain savings once again, or to worry about how the bills are going to get paid.
