Fight Cancer with Ann Rhodes

Donation protected
Ann Rhodes is the proud mother of Brittany, Christopher, and Emily and has been married to her devoted husband, Ken for 30 years. Over 5 years ago, Ann received the shocking news that she had tongue cancer. Ann recalls praying fervently that she would be at her youngest daughter's high school graduation which was 5 years into the future.  Thankfully, the treatment was successful and during that time Ann completed her teaching credential and taught both middle school and high school math. In January, Ann had a recurrence on her tongue that they thought was successfully removed. As her daughter's highly anticipated high school graduation approached, Ann and her husband Ken received the news that the cancer had indeed returned, and was aggressive Stage 4. Ann told a friend, "I'm grateful that my prayers to see Emily graduate were answered."  This is who Ann is - always looking at the bright side, always seeing the blessing even in the midst of uncertainty. After receiving a grim treatment proposal of tongue removal, feeding and breathing tubes, and still a low percentage of survival at a local university hospital, Ken sought hope elsewhere. They found it at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.  There they were given a treatment plan with the latest research and technology  - chemo to reduce the tumor followed by radiation and possibly less invasive surgery. Her Houston team is working closely with her doctor here in CA to oversee the treatment, and Ann travels back to Houston to check the progress about every 6 weeks.

Through it all, Ann and Ken are reminded that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  Philippians 4:13. They are encouraged by their loving family and friends, self-proclaimed "Ann's Army" who pray, provide meals and root on this amazing woman who fights cancer with a beautiful smile!  With Ann's loss of income combined with her husband's pay reduction due to time taken off through FMLA to be with Ann, the mounting medical costs are considerable.  Ann has suffered through many ER trips, due to mouth bleeds, infection concerns and tube issues. Traveling expenses, costs not covered by insurance, and household expenses are daunting.  They prayed over this situation and realized they really do need the financial support. Please consider donating to this wonderful family and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers!
