For my Goddaughter that i love with all my heart, family isn't always blood. Her smile can brighten a room and her voice can warm your heart. All of my friends and family help support in anyway, if its not financially sometimes a prayer can be worth more.
Hello to all Friends, Family, and Anyone who is willing to open their heart to help us support Zara in her fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). At only 16 years old with so much life left to live Zara has Leukemia, for the 2nd time in her youg life.Several years ago, 12 year old Zara was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. The type of leukemia that Zara has is called AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Zara lives in Georgia, with her parents, her sister Ava, and her grandmother. She loves unicorns, rainbows, sparkles, and being fabulous.
Zara has been fighting cancer, receiving chemo treatments, trying to help prepare her body for a bone marrow transplant. Her doctors and providers are amazed at her energy, her communication, and her resilience through so many difficult moments, they continue trying new chemo treatments to work towards getting her to a bone marrow transplant.
The time is now for friends, family and anyone who can empathize with this crisis to mobilize and give back. Resources are needed to help ease worry about medical bills and expenses that are incurring from travelling and living out of town. If we are able to raise more than needed for medical expenses, additional money could help them afford to take time from work, so that they can be entirely focused on their little one healing and focusing on their family's needs.
Treatment of AML- an aggressive form of leukemia varies from person to person, although the usual protocol is an induction phase of heavy chemotherapy for a couple of months to knock out the majority of cancer cells. Zara's chemo will be customized via genetic tests as well as her age, which will allow the treatments to be much more targeted.
Once Zara is finished with chemotherapy, which will not only destroy the mutated leukemic blast cells, but her healthy, cancer-free cells as well, she’ll need to restore those healthy cells. To wipe out the remaining cancerous cells and restore those healthy cells within Zara’s body her bone marrow in particular, she will require an incredibly extensive stem cell transplant, likely provided by one of her parents or her doting sibling Ava.
Zara's father Jean will be acting as the executor of funds and will ensure that in addition to funding Zara's treatment and subsequent recovery, money donated will help to cover a myriad of expenses including the food, gas, housing etc as her hospital stay is away from immediate family and home.
