Leo Rivas is a funny and loving boy with a huge heart and love for his family and soccer.
July 2008 at a young age of 5 years old, Leo was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Leo fought hard for 3 years and won his battle with cancer. He stayed in good spirit throughout the fight.
Finally, Leo was in remission and the doctors gave him the okay to continue playing the sport he loves, soccer.
Leo was in remission for 5 years.
His 7th grade year the cancer returned. He said, "I beat it once, I'm going to win again." He has been fighting through fevers to be well enough for chemo. Last week he was rushed to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing. The doctors said he was suffering a severe case of pneumonia. He has been in ICU at Valley Children's Hospital putting up the biggest fight and is winning the battle, showing little improvements everyday. His mom and dad have not left his side and stay at the hospital during these crucial days to ensure they are there for updates and procedures the doctors are performing. His mom and dad's main focus right now is Leo's health. His parents have not asked for help, just prayers.

Although they did not ask, Leo's mom and dad have not been working much this past year and do not get financial assistance, this go fund me has been set up to help them financially and help pay for medical expenses their health insurance does not cover.
