Fight With Katie: Support Her Through Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
Earlier this month, Katie was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called aplastic anemia, which results in bone marrow failure. She has been receiving transfusions and will begin treatment soon. Though the next few months present many challenges, Katie has a wonderful healthcare team and support system behind her to get through this difficult diagnosis.

In the upcoming months, Katie will have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation, followed by a bone marrow transplant. This requires a month in the hospital during her transplant, and then she will be placed in a transplant house for daily visits to Fred Hutch for 3-4 months where she'll be monitored closely. Katie and her mom will be temporarily relocating to Seattle during this time.

Katie has a strong, beautiful spirit and is loved by many. She is a nominee for valedictorian at Boise State University in the pre-medical undergraduate program, an executive member of her sorority AXID, an active member in her community, and a wonderful sister, daughter, relative, and friend (among many other things). Any support that could be shown to her and her family during this difficult time, including thoughts and prayers, would mean the world. If a financial contribution is possible, it can be made here.
