The year 2020 hasn’t been a good year for anyone, and now including our family. Before we go into further details We the family of John A. Benavente would first of all like to thank each and everyone for all the love, help, and support from all that have reached out to dad with prayers, it shows us that 2020 can’t keep us down and makes us stronger in this dark time, we truly appreciate it so much.
Recently our dad quickly fell ill back on Guam causing for concern. Once we noticed that something wasn’t right we reacted and planned to relocate them to Texas to stay with our siblings Justin and Renee to get him the medical attention he needed . Just within a short time of planning the move dad got worse, so we rushed the move to September of this year.
Our parents arrived on September 4th, Upon arrival in Texas we were able to get our dad seen by a doctor with the help of our cousin Bernice Meno. Little did we know that his health was a lot worse than we thought. He was admitted in the Hospital that same day after seeing a doctor on September 11th.
Our dad was hospitalized for 5 days and within that time we found that his blood count was decreasing, had high calcium, severe constipation, difficulty urinating and a large mass on his right pelvic area in between his kidney and bladder. A biopsy was done confirming cancer and he has a urine catheter attached to his back to help him urinate.
On October 1st our dad went through a PET CT Scan that was done and his final diagnosis is Stage 4 Sarcoma Cancer. This rare cancer has spread from his right pelvic area to his left leg and chest.
During the time of getting our dad all the medical attention he needs, we have been self paying due to him not having any health insurance. We are working on getting him all available medical aid to face both the cancer and all the medical financial burdens to come.
We believe in our dad and we choose to believe that he will be the exception against this rare cancer, just as he has been the exception in so many other things throughout his life. We know many of you have also been reaching out and asking how to help especially those back home on Guam. All we ask, is that you keep him in your prayers and We will truly appreciate any kind of support and contributions.
All contributions will be put towards our dads previous and future medical treatments, therapies, and all other medical financial needs. We the Family of John A Benavente greatly appreciate and thank you all for your love and support. God Bless!
