Hi, my name is Hunter.
I'm reaching out for your support during a challenging time. As a former dedicated employee of the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA), I experienced significant bullying, harassment, and micromanagement at the hands of my supervisor. This also included the hurtful disclosure of my private health information to colleagues, who then proceeded to mock and make assumptions about me.
The impact of this sustained abuse has been devastating, forcing me to take time off work and navigate the difficult WorkCover system. Dealing with insurance agencies and the emotional toll of not being believed has been incredibly stressful, and I've had to invest in legal advice and mental health care.
Now, I'm determined to stand up against this mistreatment. My experience aligns with broader concerns raised by independent oversight bodies regarding VACCA. For example, a Victorian Ombudsman's report highlighted issues with the safety of children in residential care , and another inquiry pointed to failures in ensuring cultural connections for Aboriginal children.Additionally, the Victorian Auditor-General's Office identified challenges in VACCA's kinship care program, including issues with referral processes and the timeliness of support for vulnerable children.
The Commission for Children and Young People has also noted the significant number of Aboriginal children in care not being managed by Aboriginal agencies.
These findings underscore the importance of ensuring accountability within organisations like VACCA. I am launching this GoFundMe to raise the necessary funds for legal representation, so I can pursue justice for the harm I've experienced and contribute to a greater need for transparency and ethical practices within the sector.
Your generous contribution will directly support my legal battle and help me stand up for myself and others who may have experienced similar hardship. Thank you for your support.
Forever thankful,
Hunter
