Magwatch is a group of local residents from Canford Magna, Merley, Oakley and Bearwood formed to protect our local green spaces, which are under constant threat from developers.

The latest threat comes from proposal to build a huge, toxin-producing, CO2-spouting, Green Belt-trashing incinerator on the edge of Canford Heath, which will affect residents from the surrounding areas of Poole, Bournemouth, Broadstone, Wimborne, Corfe Mullen and Ferndown.

The planning application was turned down by the BCP Planning Committee on 12th June. However, in Decmember, the developers, MVV, lodged an appeal against the refusal.

WE ARE MOUNTING A ROBUST DEFENCE OF THE REFUSAL.

We have instructed a barrister from Landmark Chambers who will represent us at the Planning Inquiry, which starts on 2nd June 2026.

Any funds left in our account at the end of the process will be divided between Merley and Broadstone schools and Dorset Wildlife Trust.
