Fight the Bite: My battle With Lyme Disease
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Johnny Raghina, and I’m fighting a battle most people don’t see — a battle with Lyme disease.
I am a Romanian national and have held British citizenship for the last 10 years. For many years, I lived in England with my wife and two children. But due to the lack of proper medical support for Lyme disease in the UK, I was forced to return to Romania — my home country — to try and access the treatment I desperately need.
Before I finally received this diagnosis just one month ago, I spent years lost in the medical system. I saw dozens of doctors across various specialties and underwent countless treatments, none of which brought real answers or relief. Each appointment brought hope, but time and time again, I was left with more questions and worsening symptoms.
Lyme disease has affected every part of my life. It’s more than just joint pain or fatigue — it’s a complex, chronic condition that’s taken away my health, stability, and ability to work. The symptoms are relentless: brain fog, intense physical pain, heart palpitations, anxiety, and exhaustion that no amount of rest can fix.
I’ve now been separated from my wife and children for over 4 months. I’ve been unable to work for the past 2 years because of my condition. Financially, emotionally, and physically, the toll has been overwhelming. This decision has not been easy!
Lyme disease treatment is expensive — and many of the most effective options, especially long-term care with Lyme-literate specialists, are not covered by public health systems. That’s why I’m reaching out for help. Not just financial support, but also understanding and awareness.
Your donation will help cover:
• Medical treatment and consultations with specialists
• Testing, medications, and ongoing therapies
• Travel and living costs while I undergo care
• Basic needs while I remain unable to work
Even if you can’t donate, simply sharing my story makes a difference. Lyme disease is real, and it’s life-changing — but with your help, I believe there’s still a path forward.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for standing with me in this fight.
With hope and gratitude,
Johnny R.
